Boundary Hill Mine Extension Project (withdrawn)

Anglo Coal (Callide Management) Pty Ltd, on behalf of the joint venture partners Anglo Coal (Callide) Pty Ltd and Anglo Coal (Callide) No. 2 Pty Ltd was the proponent for the Boundary Hill Mine Extension Project. The project intended to expand the existing Callide Mine into an area covered by mining lease application 80121. Anglo operates the Callide Mine, which is located in Central Queensland approximately 20 km north of Biloela and 120 km south west of the Port of Gladstone.

The project was being assessed by the environmental impact statement (EIS) process under Part 1 of Chapter 3 of the Environmental Protection Act 1994. The terms of reference (TOR) was finalised and issued to the proponent on 20 July 2007. On 5 May 2009, the proponent applied for an extension of time to submit the EIS and the department approved the extension on 20 July 2009.

However, the proponent subsequently decided to pursue other possibilities for the expansion of the mine, and on 18 July 2011 formally withdrew from the EIS process for the Boundary Hill Mine Extension Project.
