More people are getting the flu every year. Nearly 100,000 Queenslanders got it last year, and more than 7,000 people ended up in hospital. Most of those weren’t vaccinated.

Get your free flu vaccination

Flu season is nearly here – book you and your family in early. Queenslanders aged 6 months and older can get their free flu vaccine any time from 1 March to 30 September 2026. You don’t need a Medicare card.

Nasal spray flu vaccination for children

There is now a nasal spray flu vaccine. It’s quick and just as effective as having the injection.

The nasal spray flu vaccine is free for:

  • children aged 2 to 5 years (before they turn 6)
  • older children and young people aged 6 to 17 years (before they turn 18) who struggle with needles.

The flu injection is still free for everyone else.
