Public Notice of Release of Unallocated Water

1. Purpose

Notice is hereby given under section 17 of the Water Regulation 2016 that the chief executive of the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers (the department) is releasing unallocated water by competitive tender under the Water Act 2000, Water Plan (Mary Basin) 2024 (the Water Plan) and the Mary Basin Water Management Protocol 2024.

2. Volume and location of water available

A total of 2,360 megalitres of unallocated surface water is available from the general reserve for watercourse products across all 20 subcatchments within the Water Plan area.

3. Type of water entitlement

The water made available through this process will be granted as water licences in accordance with the Terms of Sale.

4. Purpose for which water may be granted

Water may be granted for any purpose consistent with section 30 of the Water Plan and as specified in the Terms of Sale.

5. Inspection of the Terms of Sale

The Terms of Sale titled 'Terms of Sale – Tender, Unallocated Water Release - Water Plan (Mary Basin) 2024' is available at www.business.qld.gov.au (search for 'unallocated water').

6. Tender

Water will be made available through a competitive uniform bid tender process with an undisclosed reserve price. Interested applicants must complete and submit a Tender Application Form, which is included in the Terms of Sale.

  • Tender Opening Date: 9am Monday, 11 May 2026
  • Tender Closing Date: 5pm Monday, 13 July 2026

Completed Tender Application Forms must be submitted via email to UAW.Mary@dlgwv.qld.gov.au by the closing date. Late submissions will not be considered.
