Honouring our Veterans Grants Program

Organisations eligible for funding include:

• ex-service organisations
• registered charity or not-for-profit organisation
• schools
• school parent or former student associations
• local authorities

In addition, to be eligible for funding applicants must:

• be an incorporated body
• have a valid Australian Business Number (ABN)
• be financially solvent
• be based in Australia, provided the project is delivered in Queensland
• have met acquittal conditions for previous Queensland Government grant funding (if applicable)
• have appropriate public liability insurance cover

If your organisation is not incorporated or does not have an ABN, you may consider partnering with another organisation that meets these eligibility criteria and which will accept legal responsibility for the grant. This is known as an Auspice Arrangement.

Capital works grants program key dates:

Community grants program key dates:

Organisations can submit only one (1) application per project across all streams of the Honouring our Veterans Grants Program. A detailed budget and quote will be requested in the application form to support the funding request. Depending on the type of grant being sought other documents may also be required. Successful applicants cannot apply for funding in subsequent rounds of the Honouring our Veterans Grants Program for the same project. Successful applicants will be eligible to apply for new projects unrelated to the previous successful grant project.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. If you do not have the required documents to support your application, consider applying for future rounds of the program. You can subscribe to the Veterans Queensland mailing list for updates on future rounds above.

The applicant should be the organisation that is (a) eligible to apply and (b) accepts financial and legal responsibility for delivering the project. All contact regarding the grant application will be made with this organisation only.

If an Auspice Arrangement applies then we will also be able to contact your Auspice organisation.

Veterans Queensland cannot provide individual support or assistance so that we can maintain fairness and integrity. However, if you do need general information and advice, feel free to contact honouringourveterans@premiers.qld.gov.au and we will answer your questions to the extent we are able to do so. We will let you know if we are unable to assist because of the need to maintain fairness and integrity.

Yes, absolutely, there will be future rounds. If you’re unable to apply in this round, you should subscribe for updates so you are prepared for future rounds.

SmartyGrants is an online grants administration software that provides a centralised grant application and management system. SmartyGrants is used by several other Queensland Government departments to manage grant applications.

You will receive an automatic confirmation email from SmartyGrants, which will include a PDF copy of your submitted application. If you have any queries or problems submitting your SmartyGrants application, please contact SmartyGrants on (03) 9320 6888 or by email at service@smartygrants.com.au.

All applications (including supporting documentation) must be submitted via SmartyGrants by 5pm, on 14 November 2025. If you need to make changes before the closing date, please email Veterans Queensland at honouringourveterans@premiers.qld.gov.au quoting your application identification number, e.g. HOVCOM25-xxx.

Changes to applications cannot be made after the closing date.
