Transitioning from the QGov identity system

On Sunday 6 April 2025, the QGov System was replaced by the Queensland Digital Identity system.

If you used to log in to Queensland Government online services using a QGov account, you will now use a QDI.

The QDI is a modern, robust and innovative system which meets the highest national standards and security protocols for digital identities.

At transition, depending on your situation, your QGov account may have been converted into a QDI. The next time you access a Queensland Government online service, you may need to verify your identity using government-issued credentials. This is to strengthen your QDI and meet the requirements of the service you are trying to access.

Understanding your transition

The way your QGov accounts changed depended on their setup and whether you already had a QDI via the Digital Licence App.

The below scenarios tell you what happened to your account as part of the transition.

Did my closed/suspended QGov account migrate?

No – only active QGov accounts were migrated and matched.

What happened to my QGov data?

If you used information from government-issued credentials to verify your QGov account, this information was not stored or retained in the QGov system.

Your QDI retains only the minimum personal information required to keep your identity safe and secure and complies with industry best practice standards for protecting data.

What if my credential has already been used?

Each credential (such as your Driver Licence) can only be used once to verify an identity for QDI. If you receive a message that your credential has been previously used, it means you already have a QDI.

If you get this message and you don’t have a QDI, contact us.
