If you are planning a public protest, rally, or assembly, you need to notify the Queensland police by submitting a request for a public assembly.

You can use this service to:
- request a public assembly, rally or protest.
You must submit your completed application form in person. See request a public assembly for the full application process.
What you should know
A public assembly must be authorised by the police and other relevant local authorities.
You must submit your request for a public assembly at least 5 days before the event.
If you require any road closures, you must notify the nearest police station.
Who can use this service
You can request a public assembly if you are planning:
- a rally
- a protest
- an assembly.
Don't use this service if you are planning:
- a petition.
Instead, lodge a petition.
How to request a public assembly
Choose how to submit and follow the steps.
Prepare details of the assembly or rally including:
- whether you plan to carry placards or banners
- if any vehicles will take part
- if you will use marshals
- who will be in charge on the day.
