Apply for a monitoring security officer licence

A monitoring security officer watched over property using an electronic device such as a visual recording system, radio system or remote alarm.

To work as a monitoring security officer in Queensland you need a Queensland security provider class 1 licence.

To get a monitoring security officer licence you need to:

  • be 18 or older and have proof of your identity
  • have your fingerprints taken by the police
  • pass a criminal history check.

You don't need to do any training for this licence.

This licence doesn’t authorise you to carry firearms, handcuffs or batons.

You don't need a licence if you're monitoring Queensland property from interstate, provided you're licensed in the state where you're based.
